In this post, I will present you Cascais, with little words and more pictures.
A few facts about this former fisherman village:
Cascais is a cosmopolitan coastal town on the Atlantic, in Portugal, 30 km west from Lisbon. Situated within the Natural Park of Sintra-Cascais, Cascais was awarded the”QualityCoast Gold” prize in 2016 because of its eco-sustainability. QualityCoast is a program of the European Coastal & Marine Union (EUCC) and partly funded by the European Commission.
It also belongs to the Covenant of Mayors, an EU initiative involving local and regional authorities which aims to reduce their CO² emission by more than 20% by 2020.
Cascais is also one of the richest municipalities in Portugal and actually, that was obvious due to the many shopping streets, filled up with elegant vitrines.
Spending a whole Sunday in its arms, one felt Cascais is gentle, warm, colorful and peaceful. It gave you the ocean, powder sandy beaches, a long riviera to walk on, many small restaurants with local flair and the feeling of privacy.
Although commercial, with many branded vitrines, you can escape its material flair, by taking the first small street that crosses your path.
